Wooly Red Rug News…February 2008 Edition…

Where did January go? And now it’s almost Valentine’s Day...whew!
Actually, I’m glad January is over. This year it was frustrating. Over the past few months my web server has been doing some upgrades (?) and although I am usually very patient person...this has been the true test! Things seem to be working these days...with the exception of emails to and from Laurie@ljfibers.com. This has been an on again, off again problem for some time and no one seems to be able to fix it. So...please...if you need to contact me via email, use either of these:
ljfibers@hotmail.com
or ljfibers@att.net

Another lesson in patience for me is dealing with a pinched nerve in my neck...I’m doing much better these days...but still moving slower. The 2008 Rug Project...Under The Sun is a bit behind schedule...the Part One Kits should be ready to go out in the mail this week. A big THANK YOU to those hookers who are patiently waiting to get started!

A few months ago I was invited to be part of PRHG...the Primitive Rug Hookers Group on eBay. It’s a great group of wool loving artists! To teach a little lesson for the group, I started some albums on PictureTrail...click here. Here you’ll also find a little tour of the studio/shop.

Lots of NEW WOOL arrived this past week...and many new books are due in this spring...Life is good! We are still in the deep freeze here in Minnesota...but the daylight is increasing and March is just around the corner. I hope you are well...warm...and curling up with some wool!
Wooly hugs, L

December 2007 Edition...
Happy Winter!

It's coming on strong here in Minnesota...it's been years since we've had this much snow and cold in early December. The kids love it...but I'm no kid!
I'd much rather cozy up under a rug project!
I've just spent the last few nights updating the website...it REALLY needed it...so I hope you'll take some time to browse around. New books & magazines...my new mini mat kits...and some fun new patterns on linen, too! And of course the Wooly Red Rug offical T-shirts..."Natural Hooker"!
In the Hit-n-Miss section you'll also find some fun "sheepy" signs and other fun gift ideas for all the wool lovers on your list...and Gift Certificates in any amount are always available...just contact me for details!
A heartfelt wish to you and yours for a safe and happy holiday! Thanks too, for all you support & kind words over the past years...Here's to 2008...Wooly Hugs to all, L

October 2007 Edition...
How did it get to be October already?!?!?

I hope you all had a great summer! Here in Minneapolis it was nearly 90 and humid last weekend, but the blustery north winds have been blowing all week and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the herb pots won't freeze tonite!
I've been slow at getting some of the new arrivals up on the site this past month. Seems like there are never enough hours in the day. I have a new rug design..."Apple-tyme" that will be up soon.
The Scrap Basket Treasures book is on hold, but I have released two of the patterns on linen...Scrappy Tulips and Scrappy Pumpkins.

The dye pots are smokin'...as I'm gearing up for the Autumn Valley Hook-in on October 27th in Stillwater. Click on the Classes/Events page and scroll down for info...if you'll be in the area, please come by...it's a GREAT event!...Warm Wooly Hugs, L

May 2007 Edition...
Now that the Spring Events are over...I’ve been finishing up a few commissioned pieces and working on my new book, “Scrap Basket Treasures™...Scrappy Mats”. I hope to have it completed and up on the website in early June!

So many of you have requested kits for last years rug project, “Celebrate the Magic in each Season”! My original thought was the kits for these yearly projects would only be available for a limited time...but you’ve convinced me otherwise! The complete kit will be available again very soon.

Like many of you...I wish there where more hours in a day...I have so many patterns/projects calling my name...
Well, I finally have a couple of my punchneedle embroidery patterns ready. Cute, little pin projects...great as a quick to make last minute gift!

While you are here...check out the “What’s New” page to preview of some great, new books that will be coming out this year

The Hopkins Hooking Artists Spring Hook-in is Saturday, April 21st...you'll find more info on the Classes page...scroll down to the bottom...Shepherd's Harvest Festival is just around the corner too!
Happy Spring!!!

January 2007 Edition…
As I type this it is, its 40° and raining outside…very unusual weather for Minnesota on New Year’s Eve! I think the grass is actually getting greener! I’m not complaining, but with this odd weather it has been hard to stay focused on “wintery” things…like the class schedule.?!?! However…I finished it last night and it is now on site.
I also finished up my new 2007 Catalog…it is not as complete as the info here on the website, but I’ve had many requests from people without computer access.

So, I guess I’ve been trying to tidy things up as 2006 comes to a close. I’m still working on The 2007 Block of the Month Rug Project, “Comforts of Home” and hope to have it available by Mid-January. The pattern picture and ordering info have just been added to the website...color photos will be available soon! Two new wool appliqué kits are also now available ”Woven Hearts Penny Runner” and “Bunny Hop” Circle Mat.

Happy New Year to all my wooly friends across the globe…may we all have a creative, peace-filled year!

December 2006...
Ho, Ho, Ho…it’s hard to believe December is here already! Wool, threads, books and tools are flying in and out the door at the studio. The windows are steamy as the dye pots have been fired up most days to keep the shelves stocked and orders filled. Life is busy…but GOOD!

I’d like to take a moment and give a Big Wooly Hug and a heartfelt Thank You for your continued support and friendship. I am blest to be able to do what I love for a living…with a flexibility that meets the needs of my family. Thru the website I have been able to connect with rug hooker and wool lovers across the globe.

My commitment to you, my wooly friends is to always offer fast and friendly service. In stock orders received before 10 a. m. are mailed out via Priority Mail the same day. Orders for holiday gift giving should be placed before Tuesday, December 19th.

I Hope you'll take a moment to browse thru the website...the studio is filled with goodies for all the wool lovers on your list!

May you have a wonderful holiday…filled with all your favorite traditions…Laurie

Lots of other additions over the past few weeks...so please browse the pages and have some fun!
Shepherd's Choice...Wool Wash and my favorite Rosemary Mint Moisturizer are now in stock!

The Gentle Art hand-dyed embroidery floss has been in the studio for quite a while now and finally made it on the website.

August 2006...
Hope you all have survived this unusually hot summer! I just got back from a fun family vacation in the Black Hills! A much needed break from the day to day juggling…now it’s time to get ready for “back to school”!!!

In mid July, my computer died. I’ve been able to retrieve much of my data…but some things…like my email mailing list (yeeek!!!)…maybe forever sealed in the old hard-drive I have lovingly named my “personal time capsule”. If you are reading this here and did not received an email notice directing you here, then unfortunately I no longer have you on my list. If you would like to receive updates, please re-join the mailing list by entering your info at the bottom of the home page.

Other FUN, new things at “the Rug”…. Lots of new patterns have been arriving in the shop from many talented designers…Barbara Carroll, Edyth O'Neill, Primitive Spirit, The Potted Pear and Mad Hen Primitives…tho' I'd love to...I can't possibly stock them all...so here are a few of my favorites! If you are looking for a specific pattern, just let me know and I can order it for you!

Many new books will be arriving soon too, so please visit often!

For your convenience I accept credit card payments on all orders…in studio, via phone or mail order. Use your own judgment about sending credit card info by email or fax...Of course cc payments are…as always…accepted via the on-line shopping cart!

Best wishes to you and yours for a Glorious Fall Season! Thanks for taking time to visit…
Warm Wooly Wishes, Laurie
